Staying in touch with your customers is not only a great marketing strategy it’s actually essential for the long-term success of your brand. Finding a blog page on a website is actually pretty common — but when you take a closer look you’ll often see that it hasn’t been updated in weeks or it features blog posts that lack a real purpose.
As many can attest, the idea of creating a blog is simple. Actually putting in the work to make sure it runs optimally is an entirely different ballgame! Creating a blog for your brand as a marketing channel involves commitment and making sure you are listening to the customers’ needs.
HOW TO CREATE A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS BLOG
Blogging is a great way to generate traffic to your site as long as the Internet is around and running. Want to make the most of all those leads? It’s important you avoid these common mistakes brands tend to make when running a blog.
NOT BEING CONSISTENT WITH YOUR CONTENT OUTPUT
Blogging only works when you’re creating content not in random spurs of creativity but following a consistent posting schedule. It’s not about giving your customers information about your brand or product whenever it’s convenient but making sure there’s always an output of blog articles and copy reaching your customer.
You don’t need to be updating your blog twice a day, but setting up a bi-weekly or monthly schedule is a great tool that keeps you on track. If your readers expect your blog post regularly and look forward to it, you’re doing things correctly. Is creating blog content too much to take on at the moment? Hire a content creator to do that work for you.
NOT LOOKING AT WHAT’S HAPPENING IN THE BLOGGING SCENE
Blogs are not new! People have been blogging for years and a surefire way to succeed at keeping your blog traffic up is learning from what’s working for others. As you have probably noticed, creating convincing beauty and business copywriting involves a lot more than simply writing a post weekly and clicking “publish”. There are tried-and-true formulas that have worked for countless brands and will continue to be used for years to come. Try adding in new formats to your overall content, such as lists, guides, infographics, monthly favorites and reviews.
PUBLISHING UNINSPIRING POSTS JUST BECAUSE YOU WANT TO KEEP CONTENT FLOWING
Bi-weekly posts or infographics are great ways to increase traffic to your site, but ultimately, they’re not the reason customers stay hooked on your blog. The real reason is the actual content that is being created and shared. It has to be fun, dynamic, topical and, overall, it needs to have passion or else it’s just going to fall flat.
That doesn’t mean you need to publish brilliant beauty posts one after another because I, for one, know that every once in a while creating a relevant post can be tough or you just don’t have it in you to be outrageously creative that day. But what shouldn’t happen is creating basic posts in bulk that don’t really provide any real added value to the reader.
