As we head into the end of the year and gear up for 2019 – eek! – it’s time to start thinking about what worked, and what didn’t, for 2018.
Growing your skincare or spa business is important and the strategy you implement has a lot to do with whether or not you reach a new audience, build upon a loyal clientele, or even expand your skincare business into new avenues.
Think about some of these questions:
Did you update your website content?
Did you upload blogs sporadically and hope it brought traffic to your page?
Did you engage with an audience on social media consistently?
If you answered no to any of these questions, you might want to spend some time going over your digital content strategy for 2019! Technology and social media isn’t going anywhere so it’s really important that you develop and grow your own online presence if you want to compete. Here are some of the best ways to grow your business with a digital strategy:
Fix Up That Website
As a copywriter, I see this all. the. time.
A website that hasn’t been updated in months, a blog roll that sees at best a few uploads a year – if this is you then we need to fix that!
You’re losing a lot of potential business when you neglect your blog or website. There’s just no other way to put it! First impressions are everything and when your website looks outdated or content is blah, customers will jump away from that page and move on to bigger and better. Another thing your website needs is a call-to-action – whether it’s prompting readers to make a purchase, schedule an appointment or sign up for a promotional email or newsletter, you should be directing your audience to an action.
Use Social Media
This really shouldn’t be a revelation, but social media is one of the best ways to reach an audience and stay connected with loyal customers. Have you noticed how many people are on their phone all day, every day? Instagram – especially with it’s visual appeal – is really great for skincare brands and spas and provides you with a platform to educate and encourage interaction with current and potential clients.
Some brands that do this really well are Angela Caglia – she uses Instagram to share about her brand and products, but also gives really insightful tips and behind-the-scenes looks at her business through Instagram Live – and Glow Skincare. Kasey from Glow Skincare uses Instagram to highlight her treatments, share about her studio, and offers skincare tips and tricks to her audience.
These are just two examples of how to use social media to promote your skincare or spa business!
Content is a Must
Your website content and social media presence is really important – but how do you keep those two things fresh and interesting for customers? You keep content flowing through a variety of means such as weekly blog posts, email marketing or newsletters, and even creating other useful pieces of content for your customers, such as guides or webinars that provide value to the audience while also directing them to sign up for a monthly email (great opportunity to share specials or product information!), purchasing products or even signing up for treatments.
In order to grow your business with a digital strategy, you need to also make sure you’re supplying those channels with plenty of fresh + interesting content or else you’ll miss out on a lot of potential traffic.
