How to Reach New Customers for Your Small Business

Let’s take a minute to think about your website. Do you have a constant stream of fresh content going up each week? Do you use your website content as a foundation for your social media strategy? Are you doing everything you can to reach your consumers and give them what they want?

If you’ve answered yes to these questions – awesome! You’re in for a good year ahead. On the other hand, if you answered no to any or all of the questions, don’t worry – there’s time for you to get on track and make this year one of your best yet.

In a survey with Global Cosmetic Industry there were a number of responses regarding the relationship between customer + business. Here are some of the notable points that stood out:

  • Consumers want more personalized content based on their needs and interests

  • Consumers want new or unique experiences

  • Shoppers are more interested in ethical + environmentally-friendly business practices

  • Consumers prefer to engage with a brand online more than in-store

How does this tie in with your online presence?

Your small business website, blog and social media platforms are where it’s at to reach these consumers and give them what they WANT(besides your awesome products, of course!). Want to reach these customers and invite them to discover your small business?

What does your small business website look like?

When was the last time you updated your blog?

I’ve browsed countless websites over the last few months and have been astonished at the number of blogs that haven’t been updated in months or YEARS. Some have neglected their website entirely and that’s not good either. Check out my recent post on what it’s so important for small businesses to have an online presence.

Blogs are one of the best ways to really reach customers and when it comes to a business investment it’s one of the best things YOU can do with your marketing budget. Why? Here are just a few ways blogs are beneficial:

  • They reach your target audience AND attract new shoppers.

  • Blogs give you authority and expertise in the industry – something you want to set yourself apart from the competition!

  • They drive traffic to your website. Traffic + shoppers + quality content = sales.

  • Fresh, ongoing content creates an opportunity for engagement and community on your website through blog comments.

  • Blogs give your brand some personality! Consumers really want a peek behind the curtain and get to know your brand on a personal and approachable level – blogs allow you to show off a brand voice in a way that appeals to your target market.

  • Blog content gives you even MORE social media content to work with on a daily basis.

Creating blog content for your small business

Blogs are a great way to reach and educate your audience on topics that matter most to them – but don’t expect it to happen overnight! With a consistent, ongoing strategy you’ll develop a vast library of articles that help drive authentic traffic to your website and return your investment tenfold over time.

Your goal is to hit more than 400 quality blogs — this is where your traffic goes next level and starts to generate and sustainable high amounts of website traffic. To reach this level of content, you need to allow at least a year in order to reach that number (given you post 16 blogs per month).
